Shifts of Graphs

Concept:

If f is a function and h is a constant, then the graph of y = f(x) + h is the graph of y = f(x) shifted
  1. upward h units if h > 0, or
  2. downward h units if h < 0.
Similarly, if f is a function and k is a constant, then the graph of y = f(x - k) is the graph of y = f(x) shifted
  1. to the right k units if k > 0, or
  2. to the left k units if k < 0.
